Use of Artificial Intelligence

Policy on the Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Tools

To ensure ethical and responsible scientific production, our journal, through its editorial board, hereby establishes the Policy on the Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Tools, based on guiding documents such as Ordinance 2664/2026, dated March 6, 2026, published by the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq), which establishes guidelines for the integrity of scientific activity, and Springer Nature’s guidelines on the responsible use of AI.

Authors must take responsibility for the authorship of the submitted work, ensuring that the intellectual output is developed and executed by humans. Any use of AI tools during the manuscript production process must be transparently disclosed. To this end, we provide the Declaration of AI Use, a document required for article submission on our platform.

We continue to accept for review only unpublished works whose content adheres to the rigor and accuracy of ethical scientific production and remains faithful to the data and facts presented. We ask that authors and reviewers not upload manuscript content to these tools in order to maintain the confidentiality of the editorial process.

We believe that the responsible use of these tools can contribute to the advancement of science and technology, provided it is supported by legislation and guided by criteria of transparency, ethics, and honesty.

Below is an excerpt from Chapter III, Article 9, regarding the integrity guidelines established by CNPq Administrative Order No. 2664/2026 concerning the use of AI in scientific research:

Art. 9  The following are integrity guidelines for research supported by CNPq:

d) it is prohibited to submit content generated by GAI as if it were authored by humans; authors are fully responsible for the final content, including any plagiarism or inaccuracies generated by the GAI;

e) It is prohibited to incorporate third-party research projects into IAG tools for the preparation of scientific opinions;

f) to assume full responsibility for the final content of the research, including any plagiarism or inaccuracies generated by the IAG;

g) manage research data with integrity and transparency, ensuring the proper preservation of all data, metadata, protocols, code, software, and other research materials as legitimate, citable research outputs for a clearly defined period; it is recommended that these be deposited in reliable data repositories whenever possible; and
